Summer Educator Session FAQ
Where are you located?
Bing Nursery School is located on the Stanford University campus at 850 Escondido Road. We will meet each morning at the Tower House, adjacent to the school at 860 Escondido Road.
Where can I stay?
The Stanford Terrace Inn is the closest accommodation within walking distance of Bing Nursery School and the Tower House. The Crowne Plaza Palo Alto and the Creekside Inn both offer complimentary shuttle service. Other nearby options that link with Stanford University's free shuttle, the Marguerite, include the Westin and Sheraton hotels. The Cardinal Hotel is situated in downtown Palo Alto. What are the transportation options?
We are located midway between the San Francisco International (SFO) and San Jose International (SJC) airports. For Airport transportation, SuperShuttle serves both local airports. Caltrain provides commuter rail service along the San Francisco Peninusla, through the South Bay to San Jose and Gilroy. What are the parking options?
Parking permits will be provided.
Where can I eat and what can I do after the sessions?
California Avenue or University Avenue, both located in Palo Alto, offer excellent dining options. For information on what to do in Palo Alto, visit Destination Palo Alto, which lists local activities, attractions, and restaurants. The Stanford Shopping Center is near campus and is a popular attraction. Special places to visit are the Cantor Arts Center and the Anderson Collection.
What should I wear?
The temperature in the Bay Area varies, so we recommend you bring something warm for an extra layer. We suggest professional clothing that is comfortable for sitting, walking through the nursery school and participating in hands-on activities.
Should I bring a camera?
You may bring a camera; however, photos of the children are not permitted. You may photograph the environment and materials. Images are for personal use only and may not be published or distributed electronically.
Can I bring my infant or child?
We are unable to offer childcare services during the conference sessions.
What will be offered for meals each day?
Lunch will be provided each day. Dinner will be provided on Wednesday. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options will be available.
What materials does Bing Nursery School provide for participants?
You will have a workbook with paper, pen, articles and resource lists.
