Parent Seminar: "Raising Multilingual Children: Insights from Research and Practice"
850 Escondido Rd.
Stanford, CA, 94305
Featuring Dr. Ramón Antonio Martínez, associate professor in the Graduate School of Education and the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity at Stanford University.
What does it mean to be a multilingual child in the United States today? What do multilingual children think, feel, and believe about being and becoming multilingual? What challenges and opportunities arise for parents hoping to raise multilingual children? And what can we learn from the experiences of multilingual children in classroom settings?
Dr. Martínez will address these and other topics by sharing insights from research on multilingual children, including examples from his own research in K-12 schools. He’ll invite participants to share some of their own experiences raising multilingual children and to engage in some group brainstorming with an eye towards generating collective insights.
