As parents of young children, we understand well the challenges of reorienting our lives around growing beings who have tremendous need for attention, love, time and energy. We know that our children can evoke the strongest positive and sometimes negative emotions in us. Is there a way that we can use mindfulness to more deeply appreciate parenting as its own developmental journey and spiritual practice? How can mindfulness offer us a path to growing in joy, authenticity, compassion, gratitude, and forgiveness? What path can we find that balances self and selflessness as we model this for our children?

In this evening we will explore the topic of presence in parenting and experience a guided meditation designed to help us access our capacity for awareness and clarify our deep intentions on this parenting path. There will be time for conversation on these topics.

Max Erdstein teaches meditation in the Zen and Insight traditions of Buddhism and is training as a psychotherapist. He has offered mindfulness classes and retreats since 2013. Max studied history at Stanford in the 1990s and worked at Google for five years. He is a father of three children.

Open to the adults of the currently enrolled Bing families.
