Many researchers and theorists claim that children are natural scientists, even from the day they are born! Like in any discipline though, the raw talent that all children have for scientific thinking can be guided and refined over time. Teachers can bolster children's scientific competencies—such as inquiry, observation, and hypothesizing—during play and everyday experiences with simple materials. Through specific examination of children’s play with tubes, gutters, balls, and water, join us to learn how, for children, science is a lens for viewing the world and a tool for understanding the environment.
