Educator Seminar: "Incorporating Creative Movement and Music into Your Preschool Classroom"

Presented by Mara Beckerman, Music & Movement Specialist at Bing Nursery School.

Come sing, play and gain confidence to explore moving creatively with your students. You CAN do it! Warmup with the ‘Brain Dance’ and discover how it helps children focus. Then we’ll explore Creative Dance and see how it enables a young child to find ways THEY can articulate their bodies. A variety of songs, chants, rhymes and books from a variety of countries and in a variety of languages will be used or suggested to help broaden your and your students' creative movement capabilities.

Mara Beckerman is currently the Music & Movement Specialist at Bing Nursery School. Previous to that she taught music and movement at a variety of elementary and preschools around the Bay Area, including The Harker Preschool for 5 years. An actor and dancer for many years, Ms. Beckerman received a Drama Desk Nomination for Best Actress in 1982 for the title role in the Off-Broadway Musical “Charlotte Sweet,” and can be heard on the Original Cast Recording. She eventually transitioned to performing her own one-woman show as a storyteller/musician. She  traveled the country performing and conducting workshops on music, movement, acting and storytelling. Ms. Beckerman has recorded three storytelling and music CDs.
