Coffee Talk: "Engaging in Conversations with Young Children about Sensitive Topics"

Talking with young children about sensitive topics is difficult for most people. For example, many parents wonder how to talk about race or weapon play with their children. Parents worry, “Am I introducing ideas that I don’t want my child to be thinking about?” Or they wonder what to say, how much to say, and when to say it. Although there are many possible approaches, we will offer some information, strategies, and guidelines to consider while discussing how to broach these important conversations.
