Scholarship FAQ
Bing Nursery School offers a needs-based scholarship program and strives to meet the demonstrated need of all families. Our scholarship program is available for the Nursery School and Two-Year Old programs, for both the academic year session, as well as the summer program.
Enrollment into the school is made without consideration of your financial situation. Therefore, the scholarship application process is separate from the admissions process and requires a separate application and requirements. Scholarship Applications should be completed and returned to the Administrative Director as soon as possible after a child is accepted to the program. Award letters are processed after placement is determined. Families of returning children need to re-apply each academic year and summer session (if applicable) if they wish to be considered for financial assistance. Please contact the Bing Nursery School Administrative Director, sandig [at] stanford.edu (Sandra Gedeon) (650-723-4166), if you have any questions regarding the scholarship application.
Our scholarships are funded through generous donations to the school, as well as Bing Nursery School fundraisers.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do we apply for financial assistance?
The Bing Nursery School Scholarship Application is available in the school office. Please contact the Administrative Director for a confidential application, or if you have any questions regarding the application procedures. Complete the Scholarship Application in its entirety. Include a copy of your most recent tax return, and your two most current pay stubs. The Scholarship Committee at Bing Nursery School will review your application for consideration.
Who may apply for financial assistance?
Anyone who has applied and received admission to Bing Nursery School may apply for financial assistance.
Does applying for financial assistance influence the admission decision?
No. Bing offers needs-blind-based admission. Scholarship applications are reviewed and awards are made separately from the admission process.
What does the Scholarship Committee do?
The Scholarship Committee assesses the financial need of each applicant based on the completed application. The committee will determine if financial assistance can be offered, and at what level. Factors in determining financial need include, but are not limited to, income, assets, expenses, family size, and economic lifestyle choices. Each family whose child is enrolled at Bing Nursery School is expected to pay a portion of tuition expense.
Is financial assistance automatically renewed each year?
No. Families of returning children need to re-apply each academic year and summer session (if applicable) if they wish to be considered for financial assistance. Changes in income, family status, and family assets may change an award.
What happens if parents are divorced/separated?
In cases of separation or divorce, each parent is required to complete a scholarship application regardless of custody or legal financial arrangement.
Will a change in our family financial circumstances during the school year change the scholarship award?
If your circumstances change after you submit your application, please contact the office to submit your new information. The Scholarship Committee will review the new information, and awards will be based on your demonstrated need and our available funds.
Is there a deadline to apply for financial assistance?
For the Academic Year, Bing will accept Scholarship Applications at any time a family deems the necessity to apply. Please do keep in mind that our scholarship funds are limited, and if an application is received late in the academic year, funds may not be available. But every effort will be made to assist our families if possible. For the Summer Session, applications are due by the end of the second week of the Summer Session. Please do keep in mind that our scholarship funds are limited.
How will I receive notification of an award?
A secure email will be sent to both parents/guardians stating the amount of your scholarship award, as well as information on when payments are due. Those families on financial scholarship will make monthly payments throughout the academic year, and two payments for the summer session.
Who do I contact if I have additional questions regarding financial assistance?
For questions regarding Bing tuition and financial assistance, please contact the Administrative Director Sandra Gedeon confidentially at 650-723-4166, sandig [at] stanford.edu (sandig[at]stanford[dot]edu).
